When you think of Kentucky – you probably think of the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and bourbon. But did you know that the iconic American Sports Car, the Corvette, has only been made in Kentucky since 1981? For some of our Corvette enthusiasts, their beloved car is what they think of when they think of Kentucky.

Writer Jenn Shockley posted “The Ultimate and Definitive Bucket List For Everyone In Kentucky” on, listing their 20 picks to represent the Bluegrass State.

While many of the picks were food and drink related (sip a mint julep, try Kentucky bourbon, eat some Derby pie, try out Thoroughbred pie, and indulge in some Kentucky Hot Brown), others were event-related, like attending the Kentucky Derby (the most exciting two minutes in sports), watch Thunder Over Louisville, and watch a basketball game (we have some crazy cat and bird fans!).

Making the list at number 16 was yours truly, the National Corvette Museum. Jenn writes, “If you happen to be passing near Bowling Green, stop by 350 Corvette Drive and check out the museum. Every Corvette being driven is made in Bowling Green, and most Corvettes ever made are housed in the museum. If you are a car fan, this is a must stop and see. If not, its still kind of cool.” We glad you think so, Jenn! Read her full article here.

Motorsports Park

A New Venue for High Performance

Have a need for SPEED? The NCM Motorsports Park is located less than two miles from the Museum and offers the chance for you to ride in a Corvette, drive your car on the road course for a lap, participate in a high performance driving school and/or spectate at one of many motorsports events going on throughout the season.

Don’t have a performance car? No worries! The track offers Hot Laps where one of our professional drivers will take you for a spin in a Corvette. Laps are available when the track is not in use for an event. When planning a trip, you are welcome to call ahead to check availability and make an appointment. No appointment? Give us a heads up when you are in town and we will do our best to accommodate you for a ride! Cost: $100 to pit out, one time by, and pit in (approximately two laps around our Grand Full Course). Minimum age to participate is 12, and minimum height is 4’6″. Average speeds top 100 MPH.

If you have your own car to drive on the track, consider a Touring Lap or Parade Lap.
